Ausgehverbot, curfew must seem for the homeless like a bit of a bad joke. I just hope they are getting the help they need. [Katja HEBER ]
War drum to Corona
War drum to Corona
London, Leytonstone. During my walk at 'Hollow Ponds/ Leyton Flats' today I thought I heard some distant drum beat and then I came across this guy standing in the middle of nowhere drumming away - war drum to Corona! I feel lucky to live near this park at present. I believe it is one of the most beautiful wildlife spots in London with plenty of space to keep your social distance during this pandemic. [Katja Heber]
Hope we all will see again the cherry blossom in the year to come
Hope we all will see again the cherry blossom in the year to come
My thoughts and love goes out to those that won't be here next year and their loved ones. Hoping all of you will get to see the cherry blossom again next year. [Katja Heber]
People look beautiful from the distance
People look beautiful from the distance
The UK government has announced today that some parks will be closed (Hammersmith and Fulham) due to overcrowding and people not abiding by the social distancing rules, and that some boroughs will be introducing fines for people not keeping to the distancing guidelines. Hollow Pond, our local green area in Leytonstone, London, thankfully has a lot of space and no gates that can be locked. From the distance people look beautiful and poignant as little isolated specks in this huge landscape. [Katja Heber]
Save distance shopping measures, queueing outside shops, London.
Save distance shopping measures, queueing outside shops, London.
London, a few days ago many shops and supermarkets have implemented that only a limited number of people are allowed in stores at any one time. Now there is a queuing system in place outside stores and people are urged to arrive throughout the day to avoid long queues forming in the morning. This is outside Tesco's in Leytonstone, London. [Katja Heber]
Black Crows flying
Black Crows flying
I have found solace in these strange and isolating times by walking, photographing and taking-in spring. It has been a long time since I have looked at nature this closely and intensely. Again I want to point out that I count myself very lucky at present to live close to this beautiful huge park in the East of London.
Security Guard - supermarket
Security Guard - supermarket
The queues in front of supermarkets seem to getting longer every day. Outside Tesco's in Leytonstone London, they have placed a security guard to keep order and ensure that only a limited amount of people will enter. The guards are wearing kind of visors/face screens out of see through plastic that may act as shields against the airborne virus. [Katja Heber]
Masked
Masked
As everywhere else, many people have taken to wearing masks, scarves and some have come up with some strange apparitions, to help to protect themselves against the virus in London. At any other times they would have looked quite scary. [Katja Heber]
1st warm and sunny Spring day in Corona times
1st warm and sunny Spring day in Corona times
4.April, 2020, London, the first really warm and sunny day and with the beauty of spring, it was hard to remind oneself that something nasty is lurking out there - most people I saw kept to the save distance guidelines. [Katja Heber]
People must be cooking - empty spice shelf
People must be cooking - empty spice shelf
London, this was the spice shelf in the Co-op in Wanstead a few days ago. An unusual sight. People must be cooking and experimenting with spices, which surely can only be a good thing. English cuisine often get accused of being bland. I managed to grab the last bay leaf packet and the last black pepper. [Katja Heber]
In the kitchen window I see myself as part of something
In the kitchen window I see myself as part of something
Well this happens when one is spending too much time inside. It's my reflection in the kitchen window of the flat that I'm staying in at present. It took me about 15 takes to get a half decent one - wish I weren't laughing. Katja Heber, London, 04/04/2020
Masked
Masked
London, Leytonstone, Hollow Ponds. I do want to state that the majority of people do not wear masks, but they are a very common sight. [Katja Heber]
Forever queueing
Forever queueing
Only just saw that somebody has posted a queueing picture today already - not sure from which country - I decided I'll still post mine anyway. Yes, there are queues everywhere. Leytonstone, London (post office). In order to help stop corona from spreading only a limited number of people are allowed in shops at any one time. There are long queues of people everywhere. [Katja Heber]
Daffodils and Sunlight
Daffodils and Sunlight
London, when one stays in, one gets to notice and appreciate the effects and movement of the sunlight coming in through the window. [Katja Heber]
Bring the good times home
Bring the good times home
London Leytonstone, Notices and posters in pub window, one saying they are shut for the time being but offering online ordering for home delivery services (you see these on quite a few shop and cafe windows), and the other one stating 'see you on the other side'. As the UK death toll went over 10500 today (12/4) with a total of 84,279 confirmed cases the situation looks dire and the papers stated today, that the UK could be amongst the worst hit countries in Europe. London. I do not know how to take a photo to express my sympathy and sadness for those that have died or are about to die, and their friends and families. [Katja Heber]

Masked
Masked
London, as I once again queued up at the supermarket, I noticed to my surprise, that people sitting in their cars were also wearing masks - I thought one would be quite safe from the virus there - but who knows. [Katja Heber]
View from my window
View from my window
London. View from the window of the small room I'd moved to at the beginning of the pandemic. Luckily, there is a kitchen that has more light coming in, which I'm lucky to have all to myself for a few months, and it is where I spend most of my time. It does get a little lonely at times, however. [Katja Heber]
Beautiful weeds in spring
Beautiful weeds in spring
The daisies and other pretty wild flowers and weeds are out - the shops have run out of daffodils and other flowers are a bit pricey now that I've no income. London [Katja Heber]

London, looking out of the window playing around on my guitar, I noticed all the lights going out - one after the other - apart from this one. [Katja Heber]
What do you see
What do you see
London, bored of taking pictures of queues and masked faces, I was looking for something a little different. This is a reflection I found on the water of Hollow Pond. I could see weird and scary faces in there, some with stuff/(virus) coming out of their mouths. Leytonstone, London. [Katja Heber/Lichtermeer ]

Blackbird
Blackbird
A lone Black Bird is always sitting on top of this tree at dusk and singing so beautifully - I can hear it in the morning as well, Leytonstone, London. (Taken through the kitchen window, as it can't be opened properly) [Katja Heber]

Time to play
Time to play
London, I felt a bit isolated during Corona, but I can't say I have been bored. Time doesn't go too slowly for me - there isn't enough time to get all things done. [Katja Heber]
Queueing
Queueing
London, somebody said it's quieter in the afternoons - must have chosen the wrong time. In the end it moved along quicker than expected. [Katja Heber]
Golden hour on grass
Golden hour on grass
UK, I had such a beautiful day - the weather was just simply amazing on this UK bank holiday weekend - I haven't felt so relaxed in ages - many people were out - they say that they are possibly going to slowly start easing the restrictions but I think it would be a mistake, it's too early. [Katja Heber]
A duck
A duck
London: on walking home from a quick excursion to the park I saw the cheerful sight of a duck sitting on the roof of a house in the neighbourhood. [Katja Heber]
