The current pandemic occupies, depresses or frightens many people. The massive changes in our everyday life make a photographic confrontation with this event seem inevitable. In order to get an impression of the worldwide exceptional situation, the artist group “Blaue Ampel” has asked photographers from several countries to capture their current everyday life in these weeks. This subjective view provides a small insight into the personal daily routine and the environment during the time of the pandemic, which we will probably be talking about for quite a few years.

In this project we would like to discuss different topics with others in the worldwide community of Instagram or simply illustrate them. We share a common curiosity about the different interpretations of a theme. The topic will be discussed in advance in the project room. On Instagram we publish a new hashtag every 48 days under @blaue.ampel. The #photochallenge then runs 24 days under the current hashtag. The results are documented here. more…

A dialogue is an exchange of ideas in speech and counter-talk on a certain topic. In the first stage, contact is established and usually the basic mood of the dialogue is determined. Then the actual topic is discussed. In the course of the dialogue there are misunderstandings or confirmations regarding content, form and emotion which lead to information being exchanged. If this process is considered sufficiently completed, the end of the dialogue is initiated by a termination offer.

In this project we are looking for interested parties who would like to enter into a photographic dialogue. Two or more people team up for this purpose. The first person sends a photo to which the next dialogue partner replies with his or her own photo. This should reference the first photo, be it in form or content. You get an e-mail with a photograph from someone unknown to you via the Blaue Ampel. Now you have one day to find a photographic answer. This can be given by referring to the content or style of the picture or the details. You send your answer to the Blaue Ampel. From there your answer will be forwarded to the next participant who will not know you. The series that is created in this way will be shown at the finissage.
