I took a suburbian train today. Exit on an empty town with empty streets. I crossed the empty park along the empty playground. Back to Berlin a stranger was passing, hurrying up for another train while putting on his rubber gloves...

Spring lures people back to the parks after the winter, which was not winter here. The rate of infection decreases and the distance between people becomes smaller. These two do not notice anything of the hustle and bustle. They only marvel. [Thilo Seibt]

In the kitchen window I see myself as part of something
Well this happens when one is spending too much time inside. It's my reflection in the kitchen window of the flat that I'm staying in at present. It took me about 15 takes to get a half decent one - wish I weren't laughing. Katja Heber, London, 04/04/2020

I am 24 days inside, alone, no family no friends just videocalls and a few walks. In a way all you have become friends and family. Seeing people from around the world going through the same thing as you and try to keep sane, safe and healthy gives you strength. A smile for all of you my friends. Stay strong! [Maria Tampouratzi]

In Berlin, flower shops can open if they stock gardening items. A friend who owns a flower shop now stocks soil and potted plants, as well as cut flowers. Trade is still slow. I bought these lovely flowers from her and they bring me joy. [Carola ]

People must be cooking - empty spice shelf
London, this was the spice shelf in the Co-op in Wanstead a few days ago. An unusual sight. People must be cooking and experimenting with spices, which surely can only be a good thing. English cuisine often get accused of being bland. I managed to grab the last bay leaf packet and the last black pepper. [Katja Heber]

#13 From the News In several federal states, the police have drawn a positive balance with regard to the contact restrictions, despite the sometimes spring-like temperatures and sunshine. In Brandenburg, a police spokesman said that people were "very pragmatic and sober" with it, even in Rhineland-Palatinate officials only occasionally registered violations. Tomorrow, the Corona crisis cabinet in Berlin will probably take stock of how citizens complied with the restrictions at the weekend.

5th April 2020 Today's officially Government sanctioned family walk took us up past the main road at the top of town. I'm trying not to be too judgemental, but there was far more traffic than I'd expect for a Sunday afternoon under lockdown conditions. Can't help but wonder how many folks were driving to and from beauty spots in the area. [Philip Butler]

3rd April 2020 One of the plus points of taking daily family walks from our front door, is discovering local points of interest we never knew existed. This is a small tunnel underneath the railway line at the corner of our local common, just out of sight from the road and our usual stomping ground. We'll try to take a new route each day to become more familiar with every square inch of our local area. [Philip Butler]

Security Guard - supermarket
The queues in front of supermarkets seem to getting longer every day. Outside Tesco's in Leytonstone London, they have placed a security guard to keep order and ensure that only a limited amount of people will enter. The guards are wearing kind of visors/face screens out of see through plastic that may act as shields against the airborne virus. [Katja Heber]

I have found solace in these strange and isolating times by walking, photographing and taking-in spring. It has been a long time since I have looked at nature this closely and intensely.
